We Are

Jennifer Pöttler, MSc

CEO/Founder

I was born and raised in the Mürz Valley in Styria. As the daughter of two mountaineers and adventurers I discovered my love for nature and the mountains at an early age. They often give me the opportunity to see things from a different perspective. My personal highlights was a trip to Nepal, where I hiked to the base camp of Mount Everest (5150 m), as well as to the base camp of Island Peak (5100 m) and climbed Kala Batar (5643 m). Another highlight was the Tongariro traverse in New Zealand. As a mountain hiking guide, I have turned my passion into my profession: For the Alpine School Oberstdorf I accompany guests, among other things, across the Alps from the Allgäu to Merano. Thanks to my degree in earth sciences, I can always incorporate interesting facts about the geology of the region into the tours. Besides the mountains and geology, I love traveling and kitesurfing. I have been active as a kitesurfing instructor from the Caribbean to the South Pacific.

Philosophy

My main motivation is to give people an unforgettable experience. To help them when they reach their limits but also help them to overcome them. I want to give them a versatile experience and show that with the right attitude you can move (up) mountains.

I grew up in Gaishorn am See, a small village in the Paltental valley. From a very early age, I was always drawn to nature and up the nearby mountains. Mountaineering became my great passion after a summer in a mountain hut. After that I started hiking, climbing and ski touring with two friends. We spent every day off from school high up, away from the worries in the valley. This longing for nature led to my studies in earth sciences. After my training as a state-certified mountain hiking guide I went to Oberstdorf in the Allgäu to hike from there with guests across the Alps to Merano. I also like to show the wonderful and varied sides of my home country. Always discovering new routes, I want to offer guests the opportunity to feel connected to nature, far from the hustle and bustle. Although I devoted my studies to geology, an equally great fascination for botany accompanies me.

Philosophy

Early on, my focus was on exploration and travel, which is why I decided to study earth sciences. How did the mountains I’m standing on form? Why does the world look the way it does today? My goal is to create awareness and fascination for the wonders that surround us and why we should preserve them at all costs.

Our alpine competences

Our many years of mountain experience, our training as state-certified mountain hiking guides and our studies in earth sciences provide the perfect base to be able to offer a holistic mountain experience. Up to now we have been working as mountain guides for the Alpinschule Oberstdorf, for which we still lead tours.

Your advantages

Our goal is to offer the most versatile and holistic mountain experience possible with the greatest safety possible. Therefore we would like to share our knowledge about geology & geography, flora & fauna, as well as correct walking and behavior in alpine terrain with you. Our study of earth sciences gives you the opportunity to look at the mountains from a geological point of view. Furthermore we try to keep the group size as small and manageable as possible (max. 9 people).

The mountains - our teachers

Mountain climbing reflects many things in life. Often a small step forward is enough for new perspectives to open up. It is important to dare to go your way and to put one step before the other. On the mountain we will help you to take the next step and to reach your goal while still being as safe as possible.
