A very beautiful and impressive 2-day tour with the crossing of the Hochschwab. If you want to take it a bit easier and enjoy the impressive landscape of the Hochschwab region more, you can choose the Hochschwab traverse. You can expect beautiful mountain scenery, colorful alpine flora and spectacular views with an unforgettable panorama. We spend the night in the impressive Schiestlhaus - built as a showcase project for solar, sustainable and ecological construction in alpine regions.

Meeting point

7:30 am at Bodenbauer in St.Ilgen. From there the Hochschwab cab will take us to Seewiesen to the starting point of the tour.

Food

We recommend a manageable amount of muesli bars, dried fruit or fruit slices as well as at least 1 liter to drink.

Difficulty Endurance

Endurance for tours with a walking time (pure walking time without breaks) up to 7 hours and up to 1200 meters of altitude difference in ascent and descent.

Difficulty Technique

You should have experience in hiking and be surefooted. This means that you do not slip uncontrollably even on less good paths and always step safely. The trails are usually well recognizable. The terrain is partly steep, danger of falling cannot be excluded in case of carelessness.

From the parking lot (974 m) in Seewiesen, we first take a leisurely walk past idyllic alpine meadows along a forest road in the direction of "Bösen Wald". Through this we hike on a stony path to the Florlhütte. From the Florlhütte we continue to the Höllsattel (1449 m), where the Franzosenkreuz is located in memory of a battle that took place in November 1805. From there we descend briefly to the Höllboden and climb again through the narrow, steep Voisthalergaßl to the Voisthalerhütte (1654 m). After a short rest we continue into the valley to a karstic high valley floor. From there we ascend the Graf-Meran-Steig. Via Rotgangboden and the broad northeast ridge we ascend to the summit cross (2277 m). Overnight stay in the Schiestlhaus (2153 m), the highest low-energy house.

From the Schiestlhaus we climb about 30 min. to the summit of Hochschwab. After a short photo break we descend to the Fleischer bivouac hut (1153 m). From there we follow a gently ascending trail that leads over the Rauchtalsattel and the Hundsböden. Through varied terrain of the karst landscape and past huge sinkholes we descend to Häuslalm (1526 m). After an extended rest we hike strengthened through mountain pine fields and forest to Bodenbauer (884 m).
